FAQs

How can I help?

There re two categories of volunteers: Leaders and Workers. Leaders are those who look after groups, lead small groups and get to know young people. Workers are those who make the camp run smoothly, and can be involved in different jobs such as helping with catering, providing spiritual support in prayer ministry, organising activities, and helping with the social programme.

What are the requirements for being a volunteer?

To be a volunteer you must;

  • Be aged 18 or older before the 1st day of camp;

  • Undergo an Access NI background check;

  • Be of good standing with a local church.

I’m not a leader in one of the youth groups that are involved. Can I still help?

Yes! As long as you fulfil the requirements above, you are welcome to join the team.

What is an AccessNI Check?

An AccessNI check covers an individual’s criminal history information. This helps us to make sure that the adults at Arura are suitable to volunteer at camp and that they are not barred from working with vulnerable groups. This can be carried out by your local church, or by the Arura Trust NI. It is a requirement that all adults undergo an Access NI check before a residential camp.

I can’t attend the residential. What are some other ways I could support Arura?

There are three ways you can be involved.

  1. Planning - Though you may not be able to be there for the week, you may still be able to help us plan the programme.

  2. Prayer - Pray for the young people who will be attending. Sign up for our eNews to get information on what to pray and when.

  3. Provide - The cost of Arura may stop some young people from attending. We don’t want cost to be a barrier to any young person coming to an Arura event. If you can provide financially to support a young person, or make a donation towards the costs, then please contact us.

Okay, count me in. Where do I sign up?

The first thing to do is sign up to our eNews which will provide regular updates on the planing of Arura. Secondly, register using the Leader/Worker ticket option from our online booking, or in-person through your local Arura representative.
